Durham University - Durham Law School

Durham Law School is consistently ranked to be among the top five in the country, with The Times listing us 4th and the Daily Telegraph placing us 3rd in their league tables. Not only that, but as a top 40 QS World Ranked law school, our academics are at the heart of world-class research and are highly active in engaging on important issues on a national and international level. We are expanding at the quickest pace in our 50 year history, making this an exceptional time to join us. With research interests in the broad area of commercial and corporate law, we will provide a strong research infrastructure which will fully support your progression as an internationally excellent scholar. If your research interests are in the region of financial regulation or tax law, or law and innovation or entrepreneurship, that would be an advantage but isn’t a necessity.  An innovative thinker with the ability to share your passion for Law with our exceptional students, you will ensure that they are educated in a world class learning environment.

You’ll need:

  • Experience of teaching Commercial and Corporate Law to a high standard, supported by fellowship of the HEA or working towards achieving this.
  • The ability to teach groups of varying sizes, in particular intimate seminars and tutorials. Your creative adaptation of the modules will also include the ability to use technology and other techniques throughout your teaching.
  • A good first degree with a PhD in Law (or a related subject).
  • An ambitious research plan with the ability to secure funding. You will also have a track record of producing world-class research outputs that have had an impact beyond your institution.
  • Good communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor PhD students and guide research groups.
