Assistant Professor in Physical Geography: Reconstructing Palaeoclimate and Palaeoenvironmental Change (Grades 7 or 8) Post 1

With research expertise in reconstructing past climates or environmental change, you will complement and extend our world-leading research profile. We are investing in two Assistant Professor posts. One calls for experience in analysing terrestrial, lacustrine and/or marine archives from the Quaternary epoch. The other will specialise in sea level change. You will benefit from our commitment to ensure that your teaching load is sustainable. This will give you time to carry out internationally excellent research, informing your teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Youll need:

  • A good first-degree, complimented by a PhD in Geography or a related subject such as Earth Sciences (either completed, or currently in progress).
  • The ability to produce world-class research in the field of physical geography, including a research plan which supports the activities of the department.
  • Proof that you have contributed to research groups, mentoring early career researchers.
  • The confidence to supervise PhD students.
  • To be willing to develop successful research project proposals, with the scope to secure funding or generate income.
  • The ability to engage with users of research and the generation of public benefit.
  • Experience of delivering high-quality teaching across lectures, smaller study groups and field trips, with the ability to attain fellowship of the HEA.
  • Confident leadership and communication skills, with the willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
