Senior Research Technician

UCL Institute of Neurology - Department of Clinical and Experimental Epilepsy

Applications are invited for a Senior Research Technician within the Experimental Epilepsy research group, Department of Clinical and Experimental Epilepsy, UCL Institute of Neurology to investigate the molecular, cellular and circuit mechanisms of neurological disorders including epilepsy and migraine. The post holder will support researchers who use a wide range of in vitro and in vivo methods including electrophysiology, fluorescence microscopy, and genetic manipulation with viral vectors.

Applicants must have a BSc or equivalent in a relevant subject and experience of molecular biology methods. A Home Office licence to work with animals is essential, as is experience of working with genetically modified animals. Excellent oral and written communication skills, a meticulous approach to practical work, the ability to work effectively and flexibly as part of a team, and IT proficiency are also required. Experience of working with preclinical models of disease and knowledge of genetics and/or immunology is desirable.

The post is available immediately and is funded by the MRC for two years in the first instance. Starting salary on the UCL Grade 7 scale in the range £34,635 - £41,864 per annum, including London Allowance, superannuable.
