Full-time, Fixed-term (30 months).

We are looking to appoint a Scientific Research/Communications Specialist to join a new team setting up the Centre for Health Effects of Radiological and Chemical Agents (CHRC). Based at Brunel University London, CHRC will involve a multi-disciplinary team of biologists, toxicologists and social scientists to carry out research exploring the health impact of radiological and chemical agents on military personnel and their families and to translate these outcomes into evidence-based information, advice, education and support for potentially affected communities.

The post holder will be responsible for writing scientific articles, accessible summary reports about research papers, research discussions, and research workshops. The post holder will be a dynamic communicator and will play a key role in identifying opportunities for research initiatives and major funding opportunities. You will actively foster links with funders and researchers to facilitate new collaborative ventures and will oversee the submission of grant proposals. The post holder will develop and implement communication strategies for different project outputs, including developing website content to engage with the wider community of stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have a passion for science, public health and scientific/public communication. You should have a good publication record and have experience in seeking research funding and, in communicating science to different audiences, and will have a PhD in genetics, radiation effects, biomedical or in a relevant subject.
