The department of Operations, Technology, Events and Hospitality Management is a newly formed research led academic department at Manchester Metropolitan University. The department offers a range of courses covering undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and commercial programmes, including degree apprenticeships, with an emphasis on employability skills and the ability to think critically.

The Business Analytics team is a dynamic and growing group of research academics focusing on providing high quality teaching and learning in the Business Analytics areas across a range of programmes in the Business School.


We are looking for an academic who will conduct internationally recognised research in Business Analytics, contributing to the research in this area. The candidate will also deliver high quality teaching and learning across a range of Business Analytics subjects on the range of programmes across the department, including the very successful MSc Business Analytics programme and the degree apprenticeship.

The principal teaching will be in the areas of: spreadsheet modelling utilising Excel Solver and Data Analysis add-ins; contemporary data visualisation applications such as Tableau, Qlik and Microsoft Power BI; and advanced statistical analysis techniques such as SAS, SPSS or R.

The candidate will contribute to the management and ongoing development of this dynamic subject area and experience of leading units and unit teams is an important element of this academic position.

Ideal Candidate

Ideally the candidate will have a PhD in an area related to Business Analytics, evidence of high quality research that is impactful and have published in peer reviewed journals (ABS or equivalent ranking 3*/4*). They will be able to demonstrate academic teaching experience with a commitment to providing a high quality student experience as well as a sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge to contribute effectively to the Faculty’s vibrant research agenda and the academic development of the subject in the Business School.
