Development Manager (SHTM & Learning Hotel)

The University of Surrey is seeking to appoint a Development Manager within the Advancement Office to develop, lead and implement a fundraising strategy to secure new connections and philanthropic support for the School of Hospitality and Tourism. The role will report to the Head of Major Gifts and benefit from the resources of the wider Advancement Office, although the post holder will spend significant time embedded within the School, enabling a close and productive working relationship with the Head of School and other senior academics and colleagues.

The University has identified philanthropy as a strategic priority and, with Professor Lu as a strong advocate, the Advancement team, under new leadership, is growing rapidly to meet this challenge.

The School of Hospitality and Tourism has a global brand and is consistently ranked the no.1 school in the UK and within the top five globally. It is a dynamic, forward-thinking School, offering pioneering degree programmes, unsurpassed connections with leading figures in the hospitality and tourism industries and an engaged and successful alumni base of some 10,000 around the world.  Of these, 48% are in senior management or board level roles and many are industry leaders. The School is about to embark on an ambitious project: the building and development of a Learning Hotel that will help transform the future of hospitality and tourism around the world.

The successful candidate will act as a key relationship manager for private individual donors, companies and trusts and foundations with a view to leading them towards providing support for agreed projects within the School and University. They will establish, build and maintain strong working relationships with the school academics and leadership to ensure fundraising success and work closely with the Faculty and Advancement to support engagement.
