Research and Data Associate

Health Education England

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research and Data Associate at the National School of Healthcare Science (NSHCS), which provides training for healthcare scientists for the NHS, and is part of Health Education England. The post holder will be based in the Education and Assessment team in Birmingham, and will work with a multidisciplinary team of educationalists and healthcare science professionals to undertake a range of operational and research-based data analysis tasks, as guided by the Head of Education and Assessment. Duties will include:

  • Preparing assessment data for examination board meetings and for release to trainees
  • Preparing written reports for internal and external stakeholders, using descriptive, univariate and multivariate analysis techniques as appropriate
  • Managing data from various sources
  • Having an active role in the School’s academic activities, including research, writing for publication, and presenting at conferences
  • Assisting with assessment-related training

The successful post-holder will be skilled in quantitative data analysis and interpretation, and presenting the findings, in written and oral form, with accuracy and clarity. Experience or an interest in qualitative research and analysis would be an advantage.

Applicants should have a good first degree (2:1 or above) that includes data analysis and research components. A post-graduate qualification is desirable. Applicants must have excellent written and oral communication skills and have experience of using Excel and SPSS.

There are opportunities for personal and professional development and for further training in skills relevant to the role.

The post is available on a permanent basis.

The School is based in Birmingham but there will be a requirement for occasional travel and stay at venues nationally so the post holder should expect to work flexibly as required.
