Appointment of Director of Development and Alumni Relations With an associated Supernumerary Fellowship

St John's College, Oxford

The College is seeking to recruit a highly successful fundraising professional to the position of Director of Development and Alumni Relations. Working under the overall direction of the President, the Director will be responsible for implementing all aspects of the College’s development and alumni relations programme, planning and executing the strategy for forthcoming campaigns, and taking forward a strategic fundraising plan for new philanthropic income in support of the College’s mission and objectives.

The appointed person will be an experienced fundraiser, who is capable of combining innovative and creative approaches to the College’s development and alumni relations strategy with excellent management and strategic planning abilities. Being educated to degree level, excellent time-management and organisational skills, the ability to communicate and interact with a wide range of audiences and to lead and motivate others are essential, as is commitment to the objectives of the College and an interest in higher education. The post holder will need to travel regularly in the UK and abroad and a flexible approach, including some weekend work, will be necessary. Previous leadership experience in development and/or alumni relations as well as in financial and staff management are desirable.

This is a full time post and appointment will be made on the University’s grade 10 scale, currently £53,591 - £62,219 p.a. (with a discretionary range up to £67,972 p.a.), according to experience and abilities. An additional performance-related element will be considered. Generous benefits include private medical insurance and USS pension. The post holder will be elected to a Supernumerary Fellowship without membership of Governing Body.
