Research Projects Officer

The Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE) is seeking a Research Projects Officer to join their team in an exciting new role.

The CSAE Research Projects Officer will provide comprehensive financial and administrative support to multi-partner research programmes at the CSAE. 

As the focus of development economics at Oxford, the CSAE has research teams in the Department of Economics, the Blavatnik School of Government (BSG), and the Oxford Department of International Development (ODID). We also have strong institutional links with St Antony’s College.

The CSAE Projects Officer will be part of the small and energetic CSAE support team based in the Department of Economics, and perform a key liaison role with colleagues in BSG and ODID, and across the wider University. The post holder reports to the CSAE Administrator, and works closely with colleagues in finance, personnel, communications, and research management.

Initially, the post holder will take the lead in setting up and managing the financial and practical administration of the Economic Research on Identity, Norms and Narratives (ERINN) network; the Oxford Martin School Programme ‘Governing African Transitions’; and various other large CSAE research projects.

Applications are welcome from those who hold a degree or have equivalent professional experience and are experienced in research grant administration in a higher education environment or similar setting. Applicants must have finance administration and systems experience with proven meticulous attention to detail in particular with finance data. Excellent computer software skills are essential including in the following packages: Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, with the ability to become proficient in new software packages. Furthermore applicants must have the ability to work independently with initiative to meet tight deadlines and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work in a team and build strong working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.

It would be an advantage if applicants have working experience of the financial systems and personnel and research management policies and procedures at the University of Oxford as well as experience and knowledge of developing countries.
