Academic Skills Development Manager

Leeds Beckett University - Libraries and Learning Innovation

Library Academic Support

We’re offering a great opportunity to lead a highly regarded academic skills team within an innovative and user-focused library service. You will provide leadership and management for our Skills for Learning team which supports the development of student academic communication, numeracy and IT skills through tailored, embedded in-curriculum teaching and online learning, alongside a programme of workshops and a wide range of online resources.

You will lead the team to develop creative and innovative approaches to academic skills teaching and support, in line with the learning and teaching needs of our academic community, working in partnership with academic staff in Schools. You will ensure that the service is developed to meet the changing priorities of Schools and the needs of students themselves, in developing their academic skills to become effective independent learners and critical thinkers.

You will have experience of delivering innovative academic skills support to students, both face-to-face and online. You will have a proactive approach to forming excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders and be able to evidence strong leadership and management skills. You will have the ability to lead developments across LLI, as well as contributing to University-level projects and initiatives in the area of student academic skills development.
