The Research Development Manager will provide specialist expertise to academic and administrative colleagues within the College of Life Sciences, in relation to the development of all aspects of research funding bids. With responsibility for developing processes and support services to facilitate major applications and awards, and for facilitating research programs getting underway by linking pre-award and post-award research administration.

You will maintain and contribute to the development of strategic partnerships with external funders to capitalise on College research programmes and to identify proactively opportunities to increase income generation in line with the College and University Research and Enterprise strategies.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced bid writer with a substantial portfolio of successful funding bids in the Life Sciences area, who is highly committed, motivated and organised and who is able to demonstrate an ability to build strong credible relationships with academic staff and existing and potential commercial and non-commercial partners. You will have proven project management, as well as negotiation, influencing, communication and presentation skills.

As the ideal applicant, you will provide expert leadership and advice to academic staff and research groups within the College of Life Sciences in developing complex major multi-disciplinary research funding bids, involving a number of external partners and funders. This will encompass building financial and management structures for large scale collaborations, managing contractual arrangements, intellectual property matters, building systems to evidence research impact, bid management and grantmanship. You will be a strong team player and used to working within a multidisciplinary team, however will be able to also work alone as and when required.
