DMU is a destination of choice for disabled students reflected in the fact that it has the fourth largest population of disabled students in the country. It has embarked on a university wide Disability Enhancement Programme which has built on its strengths as an inclusive university.

30 hours per week
You will be required to provide 1:1 support to students funded through the DSA and to ensure that students access appropriate funding via Disabled Students' Allowances (DSA), supporting and advising where required. You will be working with students to develop strategies to overcome any difficulties relating to their SpLD's. You will encourage students to take responsibility for their learning by underpinning their academic work with appropriate strategies.

Ideal Candidate
You will be an inspirational and dynamic member of staff working within its disability team. You must possess substantial experience of working with students with specific learning differences on a one to one and in groups. Awareness and understanding of the Disabled Students' Allowances and ensuring that students access this funding if appropriate is essential, also is the awareness of appropriate SpLD/Dyslexia screening materials and the ability to undertake diagnostic assessments.

You will have a proactive nature and be a committed team player with the ability to support colleagues and to contribute to team activities and objectives.
