Teaching Assistant/Fellow

Working within our Energy and Electric Systems team to assist in the preparation and delivery of teaching for TAS modules

Duties and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Senior Teaching Fellow this post will be expected to:

  • Assist in the delivery of teaching and related marking
  • Produce slides for the new modules
  • Plan practical activities to support the teaching
  • Produce website material
  • Produce marketing material for the relevant courses
  • Assist in the planning and scheduling of all the meetings for the launch of the SCAV MSc next academic year (18/19).

Skills and experience

  • Possession of a Masters degree (or working towards for TA) in either Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics engineering, Automotive Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience of working within industry, in three or more of the following areas: power electronics and electric machines, electrical systems, electronics, embedded systems design and testing, modelling and simulation with Simulink/Stateflow (desirable for TA)
  • Experience of teaching within a Higher Education establishment
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Ability to engage with and motivate students to enhance their student experience
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and in a fast paced environment

Hours and days of work

Full-time for 3 months to cover recruitment of STFs into the team

Rate of pay

Teaching Assistant £13.56 per hour + £1.64 holiday pay or Teaching Fellow £15.70 per hour + £1.89 holiday pay
