Opportunity to play a key role in leading the planning, design and implementation of national improvement and leadership development initiatives across NHS providers.

As Head of Transformational Change, you will join the ACT Academy; a dynamic senior team working at national level that provides expert interventions in delivering service and quality improvement and transformational change across the NHS.

You will work alongside and deputise for the ACT Academy Improvement Director in leading the planning, design and implementation of national NHS Improvement, long-term improvement, and leadership development initiatives across NHS providers and other service providers within the NHS to support them in delivering excellent performance for people using healthcare services. 

You will also be responsible for the existing and the development of new transformational change through System Leadership interventions and programmes. You will work autonomously and oversee, support and work with an expert team who work across all sectors of the NHS and associated system partners to build their capability to deliver complex change across organisational boundaries (transformational change).

You will promote the adoption of leadership, improvement science, managerial and operational best practice at a system level and within all NHS provider organisations using evidence based development approaches, including relevant examples from other sectors, private healthcare and international best practice. 

The remit of the role is broad and requires managing multiple large-scale programmes with national strategic impact and reputational risk for NHS Improvement and the wider NHS concurrently. You will work autonomously on a day-to-day basis and make judgements on the best course of action and be accountable for these decisions. This includes being able to make decisions on behalf of the ACT Academy where deemed appropriate. 

This national role requires a variety of skills and expertise from strategy development to service improvement. You will have direct experience of improving public services and extensive experience of designing delivering and teaching transformational change programmes, coaching executive directors and working in the field of adult education.
