Social Science Doctoral Studentships at Ulster. Deadline 19 February 2018

The School of Applied Social and Policy Sciences at Ulster University is seeking applications from outstanding doctoral candidates for fully funded studentships in Social Sciences at Ulster University.

Applications are invited across six thematic areas:

  • Power, social rights and justice;
  • Method, evidence and theory for practitioners;
  • Community Transformation;
  • Policy, practice and peacemaking in divided societies;
  • Critical Epistemologies; and
  • Devolution and Brexit.

Whilst applications must be submitted to one of the six themes, proposals that bring together two or more of these themes are actively encouraged.

At the School of Applied Social and Policy Sciences we foster a vibrant and highly active research environment conducive to the development of world-leading research of outstanding academic quality in all of the above thematic areas. We encourage emancipatory research that has a direct impact on communities and the policy-making process.

Our School has consistently achieved outstanding results in the Research Excellence Framework exercise. Successful applicants will be supervised by world leading scholars in their field, with a range of institutional supports that will enable candidates to conduct highly original and rigorous research.

The studentship covers fees and a tax-free maintenance stipend (worth £14,553 in 2017-2018) as well as a small annual stipend for fieldwork and other research activities. We offer both UK/EU and international studentships.
