Applications are invited for a full-time Centre Facility Manager/Senior Technical Support Position within the world-renowned William Harvey Research Institute at Barts and The London Medical School, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). The position is within the Centre for Microvascular Research (CMR), an internationally respected hub of academic excellence in inflammatory and vascular research, composed of >35 staff. The Centre is based within the picturesque Charterhouse Square Campus of QMUL in the heart of City of London.

This is a newly created full-time position for 5 years in the first instance. The appointed person will collectively manage the microscopy and in vivo facilities housed within CMR. The responsibilities will include overseeing the maintenance, operation and day-to-day use of multiple fluorescent and confocal microscopy platforms with the aim of establishing a sustainable management structure for the facility, providing training to users and ensuring continuity of advanced experimental procedures and protocols. Furthermore, the appointed person will manage the in vivo suite that houses major components of the imaging facility and over-see all necessary guidelines and procedures related to works conducted in this facility including liaising with Home Office representatives as need be.

The position would suit a candidate with a PhD in a biomedical discipline and significant research experience and evidence of extensive expertise with confocal microscopy and in vivo models.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.

Starting salary will be in the range £36,677 – £39,773 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
