The role of Provost is a unique opportunity for an inspirational academic leader to contribute to the University during a period of profound change and growth. This exciting new era includes the development of new campuses in Launceston and Hobart to create significant education and research hubs together with new degree programs designed to attract more students into higher education.

The Provost is responsible for overseeing academic and student activities including leadership of the colleges and specialist institutes to achieve outstanding academic performance and leading the University’s teaching and learning, student experience, access, diversity and engagement-focused portfolios. Significant engagement with community, industry and government is also integral to the role.

Following the appointment of Professor Mike Calford to the Australian National University, Vice-Chancellor Professor Rufus Black is seeking a new Provost who will continue to lead the University into a vibrant and successful future. Candidates who are equally passionate about Tasmania and academic excellence and who demonstrate outstanding scholarship, exceptional people leadership and a strong values-centred approach will be considered. 

The position will be located in Launceston and is offered for an initial period of five years.
