Programme Manager, Digital Academy for Climate

Do you have an interest the science of Climate Change and want to be a part of the solution? Would you like to be part of a successful team delivering education and training for decision-makers in collaboration with one of the world’s leading universities?

The Grantham Institute is currently looking for a dedicated Programme Manager with executive responsibility for organising and managing the newly established Digital Academy for Climate.

The Grantham Institute, with funding from the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), is establishing a Low-Carbon Power Sector Digital Academy. The Academy will disseminate best-practice power sector reform policies for use by power sector stakeholders, as well as house the information in a user-friendly way so that a broader lay audience can access it.

You will work closely with the Digital Learning Hub and Production Team to develop and deliver a series of Massive Open Online Courses and a Small Private Open Course. You will be establishing and coordinating a network of key power sector stakeholders to input to the development of the courses. You will also promote the courses to decision-makers in the power sector.

You will be responsible for the management of the Academy’s budget, resource planning, contractual arrangements, events/meetings, and Academy’s Steering Committee. You will be a key contact with the Academy’s funder, leading on grant reporting both internally and externally.

In order to thrive in this post, you will:

  • Be educated to a good undergraduate degree level, or equivalent.
  • Have significant project/programme management experience, coordinating internal and external activities to meet deadlines.
  • Have experience of managing people and influencing the successful delivery of outputs, including engaging and directing complex groups of stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Have strong financial and budgetary management experience.
  • Have experience of working with communications teams to raise the visibility of programme outputs, including delivering strong web and social media presences.
  • Have experience of working with external audiences such as business and government to deliver projects.
  • Have experience of managing a customer-focused service.
  • Have an interest in climate change and environmental matters.

An understanding of the power sector stakeholder landscape, including industry and government, and a broad understanding and knowledge of digital learning are both desirable.

This career opportunity will utilise your experience gained in previous positions such as Project Manager, Programme Administrator, Programme Officer, and Project Officer.
